She has been at Heartbridge since March 2009, and made wonderful progress under the care of our medical staff and nannies. Recently, when surgery to reverse her colostomy was done in September, surgeons discovered that her intestinal tract was not functioning at all due to Hirschsprung's Disease. Her entire large intestine had to be removed. Specialists have asssured us that Erin should be able to lead a very normal life, but it will take some time to get her digestive system working properly.
