Lu'An is a rural city in southeastern Anhui province, with a population of just over 300,000. Farming is the main source of income, with both rice and tea being grown in the region. This program began in August of 2005. Initially it was comprised of eighteen special needs children and has grown to its current number of thirty-eight children participating in the program. The children vary in age from around a year old to early teens.

Several of the children in this program have also benefited from participation in LWB’s nutrition program, where they receive the best quality formula and rice cereal. Many of the children also participate in LWB’s education program. It has been a joy to watch the children blossom and better reach their potential over the past four years while receiving loving care in a family setting.

Sponsorships cost $35 per month. Each child in the program has two sponsors, enabling full coverage of program expenses. Sponsors receive monthly reports which include the child’s basic information, developmental updates, and new photos of the child.
