Kaifeng is a city in eastern Henan province. It is located along the southern bank of the Yellow River and borders the provincial capital of Zhengzhou. Although farming is the main industry, this city is also known for its textiles.

The Kaifeng Foster Care Program began in February 2006 with just five children and today there are almost forty children placed with loving foster families.  The children range in age from newborns to ten years old and most of the children have some medical or special need.  Their special needs include cerebral palsy, cleft lip and palate, limb differences, or heart defects.The Kaifeng foster care children continue to benefit from LWB’s nutrition, education, and medical programs.  As well, the children in this program have twice participated in LWB’s physical therapy camps, where they and their foster parents were trained in physical therapy exercises to increase mobility and function.

The gift of having a family has made an amazing difference to these children. Sponsorships are $35 per month and each sponsor receives a report with photos about their child monthly. Each child in the program has two sponsors, enabling full coverage of program expenses.
