Every school has its honor roll, and so do we! These children are supported through tuition and/or tutoring and have excelled in their schooling. We are exceptionally proud!
"Mama's Wish"
Ren Chen Ji started in the Mama's Wish program in 2006 in college.
When one of our associates visited China in 2007 she wrote that Ren (who chose the English name "Jen"), asked that we thank her sponsors for her, and let them know that her biggest wish is to find a good job after graduation from college. She wanted to be able to sponsor some poor students from her home town and give them a chance to continue their education.
From her final letter to Mama's Wish she writes: "I can still remember the first day when I came to this school with my uncle, it was smoothly raining. I was came being very confident and having a great dream in my mind. The past four years passed so quickly for me, now I say goodbye to my college life."
Ren recently graduated with a degree in "Computer Science". She took teaching placement exams and passed. She is now teaching in a middle school in Aba, Sichuan. She has held true to her dreams and has successfully found employment and by way of teaching is giving back to students in need of an education. She is passing it forward.
Her final comment "I would like to thank you so much for your support and love. You have made me a successful independent person."
Believe In Me—Jinjiang, Fujian Province
Noah entered the Believe In Me – Jinjiang School in the early summer of 2008 at the age of one and a half. He didn't like to go to school, greet others, follow directions, couldn't say his name, count, and would not sing or dance with the other children. He most certainly was a challenge to his teachers. But now, just a little more than a year later, Noah shines! He confidently attends classes each day and receives good marks. He listens to his teachers, sings songs, and says his first and last name. This little boy's social and intellectual growth just keeps improving each month. We love to receive his reports and see what new skills he has achieved each quarter.
Believe In Me—Jingzhou,Hubei Province
We are so excited for Tommy, a five year old boy who has recently had surgery to ease effects of Cerebral Palsy. He can now participate more in the classroom and move freely about. Every picture of Tommy shows a new boy who is ready to take on life's challenges. The Believe In Me School is about hope and promise to children such as Tommy. He will continue to learn and grow in the Believe in Me program and will know success. He hope that one day Tommy will meet his forever family and transition well to a new life due to his enrollment in his Believe In Me school. and We enjoy watching Mr. Happy Face learn and grow!
Believe In Me—Changde, Hunan Province
LWB is proud and pleased to see Kathryn attending public school this fall. Until now, Kathryn was considered a special needs student and ineligible to enroll at her local public school. However, all that she has learned in her Believe In Me class strengthened her skills and abilities as a student and she is doing just fine alongside her peers in public school—especially in math. Although her Believe In me teachers and classmates miss her lovely and helpful presence every day, it is a tremendous success for Kathryn to move from school inside the gates of her orphanage to the real world. Even better, Kathryn is available for adoption and has been placed on the shared list. The ultimate success for Kathryn will be joining an adoptive family. We can't wait to celebrate that success with her too.
Believe In Me—Huainan, Anhui Province
Sara Ann is a little girl who's report card is proudly displayed on LWB's refrigerator. This nine year old girl spent a year in Believe In Me kindergarten before enrolling in her local public school in Anhui Province. This public school is one that parents pay a fee for students to attend—academic expectations and competition are tough. In her second year of public school, Sara Ann is keeping up with classmates just fine. She has earned “excellent” marks in Pinyin, Chinese Characters and Math. Sara Ann is a girl of sparkly eyes and adorable dimples…AND a determination to achieve through education. We are so very proud of her.
Believe In Me—Shantou, Guangdong Province
Hope is a precious four year old student in our Believe in Me Shantou school. She is one smart cookie! Because she has mastered all of the skills in her preschool class, Hope was recently moved to the traditional class where, in only a short time, she has learned to recognize some basic Chinese characters. She also loves to sing, dance and entertain. Her teacher describes her as very helpful, observant and attentive to details. What a charmer and success!
